Typhoon Uncovers Centuries-Old Shipwreck off the Coast of Vietnam

Parts of a shipwreck, estimated to be hundreds of years old, were revealed after Typhoon Kalmaegi swept through Hoi An, Vietnam.

Tropical storm Fung-wong is approaching Taiwan, bringing intensifying rain and winds to the region and injuring dozens.

Fung-wong was moving near Taiwan at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Japan time, and is now heading east-northeast at 20 kilometers per hour.

Taiwan's health authorities say strong rain and winds caused a total of 88 injuries in the northeastern county of Yilan and the northern city of Hsinchu.

Officials closed all businesses and schools on Wednesday in 12 counties and cities, including the southern city of Kaohsiung and the central city of Taichung.

Taiwan's meteorological authorities say people should remain on alert for powerful winds and high waves.

Before heading to Taiwan, Fung-wong was classified as a typhoon. It hit the northern island of Luzon in the Philippines on Sunday night, Japan time. Officials have so far confirmed 27 people have died there and two people remain unaccounted for due to downpours and fierce winds.
